2011 Flying By

The older I get, the faster time seems to be flying by. December somehow sneaked by me, and 2012 is right around the corner.

The best word that would describe 2011 for me is “work.” 2011 was a year that gave me a job of opportunities and new friends. When I think back throughout the months, my memories are enshrouded by work life and all of the things that came with it, such as stress, laughter, bills, overtime, projects, change, and so on and so forth.

Overall, it was an amazing year in its own way. I wasn’t able to travel the world as I hoped for, but I found stability for myself and future goals to look forward to.

The year is coming to an end…so take a moment to think back on it and embrace it, whether it was good or bad, because in the end…it’ll always work out 🙂

Below is a great video to recap the year done by google

Happy Holidays everyone! Have a fun, safe and amazing holiday! I wish you all the best!

A new year, a new start

Happy Valentines everyone!

Already in our 2nd month of 2011. Only 1.5 months in and so far, so good! Filled with awesome eats, awesome friends, adventures and now…for a new career jump. After much anticipation, I have put my two weeks in at my current place of employment and will be moving on!

Goodbye Microsft Vendor…Hello Boeing! 2011…year of the Rabbit/Cat.. I am looking forward to what else you have to bring.

For those of you on the hunt for a new job, good luck and happy huntings! The market is still rough, but if you dedicate yourself to job hunting , something will come up, even if you have to apply to over 100 places. As always. I believe that in the end…things will always end up OK.

Look forward to my future posts on job hunting, and also, I am trying to continuously update my blog about scamming companies, so keep your eyes on that and don’t get scammed!

It’s 2011 already

Unbelievable! It’s already 2011. 2010 really did fly by…..the years truly do get faster as you get older it seems.

I hope everyone has a great 2011! and hopefully, everyone spent their new years in amazing ways already! I know I sure did!

On the first day of 2011, I spent it in the mountains, carving my way around on a snowboard =) The snow was PERFECT and

company was amazing. Could I ask for much else on a snowboarding trip or start of a new year? absolutely not! This was also the first snowboarding trip I had with a helmet..and DAMN..that sh*t works! haha. I had a pretty awesome fall near the lift, (where everyone could see me)..but thanks to my awesome helmet (as you can see on the right)….I was barely rocked. Folks..I HIGHLY encourage this helmet thing haha. Why didn’t I use a helmet before?? It would have saved a TON of pain and scary thoughts of if I was going to get a concussion or something… O__o

Anyway.. as for 2011…I should probably set a New Years Resolution…and that will be…blog more =)

Even with my drastic drop of writing blogs this past year, my blog is still getting a ton of views:

(according to wordpress)

Healthy blog!

The Blog-Health-o-Meter™ reads Wow.

“This blog was viewed about 34,000 times in 2010. If it were the Taj Mahal, it would take about 4 days for that many people to see it.

In 2010, you wrote 23 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 245 posts.

Your busiest day of the year was December 27th with 351 views.”

So.. to start of the year on my blog, I’d like to thank all of you for reading my blogs! I alwaysss love reading comments and love knowing that my writing has gone far enough to entertain those that follow =)
Thanks everyone, and have a happy new year! 2011…here I come!

My Desire..HTC style

The new addition to my electronic family is my new G2, the HTC Desire Z. After roughly 4 years of using my Sony Ericsson k800i, my brother thought it was about time I join the Smart Phone generation.

My K800i has treated me  o-so- very well though. The camera (and technology in general) in it is amazing, especially for its time, and it’s down right durable. It’s been through so many drops and bangs, that it is amazing that it’s still going strong without anything beside some scratches. The only thing I ever needed to do was buy a new battery for it after 3 years of using it. Don’t get me wrong though…my k800i is only going into semi-retirement. Why? well…since I got it as an unlocked phone and it’s quad-band, I can still use it out of the country =)

As for this smart  phone bit. I’ve been against it because I never wanted to pay for a data plan and also didn’t want to be so dependent on its’ convenience. I know I can live without it ..but now that I have it.. I probably won’t ever be able to go back. Plus…most smart phones, I never really liked or found as user friendly as this one. I HATE touch screens…it’s like I had sausage fingers or something..but for some reason..this phone was a perfect fit. Thanks Bruce!

So hello G2, and goodbye for now K800i.

It’s official. I’m FT.

I would have never guessed where I would end up after I graduated from college, but I definitely can’t complain. Sometimes I wondered if I would be traveling the world, stuck unemployed, or at some dead beat job, but here I am, after 1.5-2months of job searching, and getting a random call from a company that works for Microsoft, I got a contract for 3 months, and 2 months in, I was offered full time. As of last Monday, I started my full-time rate =)
I get benefits! I haven’t had benefits since I was a junior in high school! I haven’t had my vision checked since middle school or high school either. Time for some check ups! wish me luck O___O

When I graduated last August, and after my return from Beijing…I was pretty lost of what to do. What kind of job COULD I get? what kind of job would pay well? Well…turns out there weren’t many options and although I set an ideal salary for myself, I ended up sucking it up on my job hunt and saying that I would start low and gain experience.

Well….things always turn out better in the end right? I some how lucked out and got a position with a company that paid my ideal rate for straight out of college. It seemed almost impossible, but it looks like someone’s got my back =)

so…it’s official. Jfo is employed full-time. I still have some debts to get rid of, and although my work place isn’t moving to an ideal situation, I’ll take what I can get and move on when the time is right!

On my whiteboard

After 4 years of school, 5 weeks to study Mandarin in China, and then a break at home to enjoy life, I started hunting for a job. I sent in numerous of resumes. Probably more than I ever thought I’d send in…mostly because I started getting desperate for a job since my money was running dry as the weeks passed by.

I got some calls and some offers, but all places I didn’t like or places that paid too low….then I got a call from a company I didn’t apply to. They somehow found my resume and wanted an interview…they even paid well!

The whiteboard in my office =)

I ended up getting the position =) Today was my first day of work, and so far so good. I’m not working anywhere permanent, but for the next 3 months, I’ll be working at a Microsoft vendor on contract. My days of goofing off for weeks on end are over until summer…and if I don’t get my contract extended or a permanent position after that….I guess I’ll just have to figure it out while I’m at Harry Potter World……… >____> hahha whooey

You gave the plant an owie

Since both Khang and I are unemployed, every Thursday, we head off to Khang’s family’s gas station to help out by lifting and smashing down boxes. We had to make sure things were spick-n-span because the audit lady was suppose to come in the next few days.

Well, after doing our usual routine, Khang’s mom told us that we needed to pick up the fallen advertisement signs on the grass. Khang needed to fill his gas tank so he told me to move his truck and fill it up while he fixed the signs…since I always have to move the truck and such, I told him nope and went to fix the 2 fallen signs myself. I got one up rather quickly… I just picked it up, stabbed it into the ground and stomped on it to make sure it was locked and secure..and voila…the 2nd one wasn’t so easy though.

The 2nd sign was originally posted in a small bush in the ground, so when it had fallen, it uprooted some of the plant, and I couldn’t find a way to stick it in without further harming the plant, so I waited for Khang. He was taking a bit longer since there was a long line at the pumps, but once he got to the pump, he went to help me…but as he approached, some crazy looking, bum-lady waiting in line for gas, pops her head out of her beat up astro-van and says to Khang in a semi-joking manner “why were you just sitting in your car while she did the work!”.. well we laughed it off and then Khang starts to “fix” the fallen sign. I told him I didn’t do it because I didn’t know what to do about the plants…well he said it didn’t matter and just stomped all over the plant and eventually got the sign in.

As Khang was walking off with his goofy smile, the lady speaks out to us and tells us that we gave the plant an owie…and Khang replies, it’s ok! it’s my plant!! hahah……….

Well…since we finished our work, filled Khang’s tank, said bye to his mom as she was listening to the crazy looking lady tell her what Khang did to the plant and drove off…we got a call a few minutes later to find that Khang forgot his coat, so we had to do a huge u-turn around and travel all the way back….

I quickly hopped out of the car to grab the coat and to my surprise..the crazy looking lady was still in the gas station………… she was the auditor…. HAHAhahahahhaa…….the crazy lady again..repeated how Khang gave the plant an owie again, and Khang’s mom, while “laughing along” told her she got docked off points from it…HAHa… -________-

O man…the timing of all this was amazing…
