About me

About me:

I’m a university graduate with a major in International Studies with a focus on Asian Studies, and have recently entered the corporate working world. I aspire to travel the world and accomplish something great one day. My family is important and my friends keep me smiling. I don’t have the slightest clue where I will be in the next 5 years, but I am crossing my fingers for something good. Wish me luck.

What’s the focus of my blogs?

It’s pretty random…It’s whatever is on my mind! It ranges from stories about my life, my travels, to movie reviews, photography, and whatever I feel like sharing to the world. There isn’t a real focus besides me being me.

  4. Hey, Jfo, I did not really know where to post this, but I really like the pictures you take, so I was wondering if you had higher resolutions than on flickr, or pictures that I can download, because I’d really like to have some of them as wallpapers.
    Thanks.

  5. flyingcrispi: thank you so much! hmm if you tell me which photos you were looking at, I could put em up on megaupload in a zip file if that works?

  9. Anthony: hahah, I’m pretty sure you’re still leading. And that’s exactly why I’m poor…It’ll be awhile before I can get my own place it looks. You change your domain way too often

  10. carissa: ha don’t be envious, just make sure you go out there and do it! it’ll be one of the greatest opportunities there is. On my trip to Vietnam this past summer with 2 of my friends, we did volunteer work at temples and orphanages and it was something I’ll never forget. The people you meet, the food you eat, and etc are worth more than words will ever explain.

  11. Hi there. I stumbled on your blog by googling IVHQ Vietnam. I’m considering participating in the program. Would you mind if I asked you some questions about your experience via email? Thanks!

    1. Hi Qlam, that’s awesome that you’re interested in the program! Did you go through my 5-part series of my experience in Vietnam? Most of those will cover in detail things about the program. As for my email, you can contact me at liljetjennie [at] yahoo [dot] com. I look forward to hearing from you!

  12. Hi there,

Would you be able to give me feedback about IVHQ? I am thinking of traveling to India with them this fall, but really want to get impressions of someone who has used them, to make sure they are a safe, legitimate company.

    Thanks so much,
    Jeannie Page

    1. Jeanie Page: Hi hi, as I stated in the comment above to Qlam, did you read my 5-part series on my experience? That should answer most of the questions on what I felt about the program unless you have specific ones. Also, with my experience, IVHQ played a very minimal role in the volunteer work. IVHQ is purely a company that places you in a location that has volunteer sites set up. After that, it is up to the volunteer program. Hope this was helpful!

  13. Hi, I am interested in donating to the Ky Quang 2 orphanage in 154/4A Le Hoang Phai , Saigon. I searched for the temple online and came upon your page. If you know how I can make this donation, please let me know. Thank you very much for your help.

    -Dionne

  14. Dionne: Hi hi, thanks for stopping by. To be honest, I’m not sure of how you can make donations without going there and doing it physically yourself, face to face. We encountered problems while we were there with delivering necessities that volunteers had given to the children at a different orphanage before. The only guarantee is to get someone you know to do it unfortunately.

  15. Hello!
My husband and I are considering planning a trip through Volunteer HQ and I wanted to see what your experience was with them and if you would recommend them. I am very skeptical obviously and do not want to get ripped off by them.

I would really appreciate your advice!
    Thanks!!!

    1. hey, just to make sure, did you read all 5 parts of my experience? I get a lot of ppl that ask me these questions..and to be honest, it gets repetitive. I’d love to help out in answering questions, just make sure you read the 5 parts first!

    1. The photos appear real…but I’m almost 100% certain that they arent real. Knock offs are everywhere. Find out where the product is being shipped from, and that’s usually the marker to find out.

  16. dude one of my native english coworkers has been to like 150+ countries cuz he has worked in korea for 8 years and gets like 3 months vacation per year.

and tons of the f.brighters i know have been to like 10-30 countries being here too since they have super long breaks.

comee travel with me after im doneee with my contract :-/

  17. “…I don’t have the slightest clue where I will be in the next 5 years…”

I let myself know this everyday. I can testify to you that 5 years ago I was a very different person, with a very different lifestyle, a different cause, a different heartbreak, a different infatuation…and my times were spent with very different people. Five years before five years ago….DIFFERENT. And now moving forward…DIFFERENT. It’s a cycle that renews itself every five years. And that cycle is the only thing in life that has ever been constant and never changing.

    1. 5 years is a hugeee gap. In the past 5 years, I’ve done a lot of growing up, had alot of amazing experiences and I know that in the next 5 years, I have a lot to look forward to.

  19. Hi there! I just read your 5 part series on volunteering in vietnam and it really gave me that little extra motivation I needed to make up my mind πŸ™‚ I was wondering if I could ask you some specific questions about your experience – specifically, were you staying at the peace house in ho chi min city of hanoi? Also, I’m really interested in doing the teaching english/orphanage care program through IVHQ – but I read somewhere that the teaching english program is not available in the summer…did you find this was the case? And were you able to have a say in which organizations you spent your time at (such as the orphanage or teaching english at the monastery?)

Thanks so much for your time! Looking forward to hearing from you πŸ™‚
