Movie reviews: 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant & My Boyfriend is Type B

Usually, I’d be on top of finishing up my summary on my trip to China..but that requires SOO much work..To be honest, I’d be surprised if I did go back to sum it up. It was a GREAT trip and I’d love to blog about it, but the thought of loading photos and etc makes me tired just thinking about it right nowhaha..we;ll seee.

This is the first time I’ve done a movie review on Koreans movie! yay! hope you enjoy!

Naesarang Ssagaji (100 Days with Mr. Arrogant)

Ha-Young (Ha Ji-Won) is a high school student who was just dumped by her boyfriend right before their 100th day anniversay. While walking home, upset and frustrated, Ha-Young kicks a can that ends up hitting Hyung-Joon (Kim Jae Won) in the face as he is driving his expensive car and it ends up running into a wall and getting scratched. Hyung-Joon demands her to pay him back, but she ends up running away..but of course, she dropped her wallet! Hyung-Joon ends tracking her down the poor high school student and writes up an “Enslavement Agreement’ that allows Ha-Young to payback for the damages through 100 days of doing errands, cleaning and etc for Hyung-joon. She eventually figures out that Hyung-Joon lied about the price for fixing the car and eventually seeks revenge.

Movie Review:

100 Days with Mr. Arrogant is another over-the-top crazy Korean comedy romance that will definitely make you laugh. Anyone who has seen My Sassy Girl or My Tutor Friend will definitely not find this movie to be THAT great. Although it’s a cute romance, it’s not a well made one. Hyung-Joon, who is suppose to be an all time arrogant hunk… doesn’t seem as arrogant as he should have been, and as for Ha-Young, her nutty and outrageous personality sometimes are a bit too much and annoying. And even though Hyung-Joon has Ha-young under a 100 Day agreement for her to be his slave, the “dreadful” and “terrible” tasks that he gives her don’t seem all that bad, especially once the movie progresses and the expected happenings of a cliche love story start to progress. Ok..I seem to be bashing a lot on this movie, but I did actually enjoy it. There was excellent pacing, and not a single dull moment between the silly comedy and sad dramatic parts. Even though the ending was completely predictable, I found this movie to be quite fun to watch, especially with a group of people. The romance, although difficult to follow, is quite touching and fun to watch.

Oh, and is it just me..or are Korean girls in most these movies just SUPER extreme and spunky!?

My rating: 7/10
Should you watch it? Cute and predictable. If you’re in the mood for some over the top humor and a cute chick flick, go watch! It’s quite fun.

B-hyeong namja chingu B형 남자친구 (My Boyfriend is Type B)

Ha-Mi (Han Ji Hye) is a college student who believes the notion that a blood type determines a person’s personality and compatiblity. One day she encounters Young-bin (Lee Dong Gun), a heart throb of the school, by accident while riding the bus and calls it destiny. Problem is…Young-bin has a type B blood type, which is known to be a person who is selfish and irresponsible, a definite no-no for women!

Movie Review:

My Boyfriend is Type B is a cute and funny movie, but quite frustrating to watch. Young-Bin, played by Lee Dong Geon, although handsome and macho, is a complete arrogant and self-centered guy. Han-Mi, played by Han Ji-Hye, is the opposite however, and yet seems to fall head-over-heels for him. Perhaps I am more liberal than others, but I think Han-ji Hye’s level of tolerance was just beyond belief! The movie has it’s cute parts and can be enjoyable at times, but it is also another cliche love story of the ups and downs of going out. The acting is great, but the story isn’t top-notch in my opinion. Overall, I enjoyed watching this quirky-Korean romance- I got mad, sad, laughed and so forth, but it wasn’t anything THAT special.

My rating: 6/10
Should you watch it? Predictable and frustrating to watch, yet…cute? It is a very Korean movie, with all of it’s silly quirks and humor that get you laughing, so if you’re in the mood for a typical chick flick with lots of ups and downs, onward you go.

  1. seeing han ji hye and lee dong gun together in a pic still sometimes makes me want to cry… I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY BROKE UP. but you heard me whine about that enough times… ;__________; check out sweet 18 sometime for a role reversal.

i didn’t think either of the movies were too great, either.. but they are pretty fun and waffy for those days when you just want to put something on without having to think. and they’re definitely much better than a lot of korean comedies. @______@

  2. certainly like your web-site but you need to check the spelling on several of
your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems
and I to find it very bothersome to tell the truth however I will definitely come back again.

  3. Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this website.

It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s
very hard to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance.

I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this.
Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Safari. Outstanding Blog!
