Crazy Antics

I give mad props to people who can improv. I wish I had the ability to just come up with spur of the moment comebacks and knee-slapping jokes! O well… it’s a trait I just didn’t pick up I suppose and I’ll just have to leave it to the pros. So! If you haven’t heard of this group or seen the videos, please watch and enjoy!

This crazy attention striving group, which you will see shortly, is called Improv Everywhere. As stated on their webpage, “Improv Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 70 missions involving thousands of undercover agents. The group is based in New York City.”

Frozen Grand Central: Over 200 people freeze in the middle of Grand Central Station in New York. (This one is my favorite, I would have loved to have been there for this. O and one thing…what would be the point of taking a picture during this if you witnessed it? lol, wouldn’t it be better to film? haha).

Suicide Jumper: A bunch of the improv agents take part in this..its pretty entertaining. I can’t imagine seeing this …

Check out their site if you like them. Some of their “missions” are better than others of course, but overall, these guys are funny… but at the same time, damn annoying lol. I’m glad this is in NY and not here haha.

OO, and this got me thinking, I’ve never been to an improv show, does anyone know of any around town and want to go?

brian- lol no I’ve seen this group before but my boss/friend reminded me of it yesterday, so I decided to share!

  3. lol….the “freezing act” in Grand Central is kinda spine-tingly if i were to ever stumble upon that. it’s kinda like seeing somethin’ in a science fiction scene. the suicide one is kinda silly though…

There are on or two theaters in the U-District that do Improv. I think tickets are between $10 and $20. That Grand Central Station thing was wicked!
