Why can’t I open my eyes?

I’m not much of a believer when it comes to ghost, voodoo, being possessed and all the variations. The day I see it I’ll believe it, and I’m sticking to it.

The other night I either experienced or experienced something along the lines of sleep paralysis. It was probably one of the creepiest nights I’ve endured. Most nights I don’t remember my dreams but when I do, I would say at least 75% of them are lucid dreams.

So like any normal person, as I was going to bed I had a bunch of things going through my mind; from homework, to past conversations, internship, etc. Sometimes though, my mind seems to do its own thing and I think of really creepy things, such as scary faces, zombies and other horrifyingly-realistic looking people. Why? I’m not sure but when they come in my mind, I open my eyes immediately and try to focus again. Usually that does the trick and I can think straight again or I’ll just go right to sleep.

Well the other night was a bit different. As I was laying in bed with my eyes shut and the scary images flew through my mind, I couldn’t open my eyes no matter how hard I tried. My body was rigid and it felt as though it was being pushed numerous of times on my side and back. Huge chills flew though my body each time I was shoved and I couldn’t react to it. During this entire time, I remember debating with myself whether it was a dream or not. It didn’t make sense to me logically! I was scared to death but at the same time why couldn’t I wake up? Why couldn’t I open my eyes? Why was my body rocking and not in my control? Was I being possessed? Maybe I was awake?

I don’t really understand what happened that night but I’m hoping it never happens again. Some of you must think I’m crazy but it was damn scary!

  1. First, I don’t think you are crazy… I know you are lol. jk

Thats interesting though… I’ve *never* had a dream where I actually knew I was dreaming. As such, I’ve developed a theory that basically says if I can ask myself, “Is this a dream” it’s not.

Obviously this theory doesn’t work for you but its always worked for me lol.

  2. the first time i ever experienced one was back in 6th grade. at the time, i actually thought i was about to have some sort of out-of-body experience. it was a weird feeling…pretty haunting. i get them once in a while (never often) and they still feel eerily frightening.
